So, those that keep track of these sorts of things no doubt know that Crysis is the absolutely stunning looking game from the dudes that did Far Cry. Just to give you a feeling for how f**k*ng good this looks, here's a comparison between reality and Crysis - you can tell which is which, but it's about as close as I've seen in video games.
![]() IGN has a fair bit of info on it, check it out here: http://pc.ign.com/objects/694/694190.html So, what do we all think? Personally, I'm damn impressed. -------------------- "I am so omniscient, if there were to be two omnisciences, I would be both"

Incredible.
I bet it will never look that good in-game though, the screenshots are always a bit tarted up and at the perfect angle etc. |

The only thing that gives it away is the grass really. I had to look closely to see which was the game or not.
So what's this game about? -------------------- Ahh fuck. I can't believe you've done this!!!

Incredible. I bet it will never look that good in-game though, the screenshots are always a bit tarted up and at the perfect angle etc. That and the fact that you'd need the top-of-the-line PC to experience it like that. Although, it is also coming to Xbox360 and PS3 I believe. As for what the game is about, well, here's a blurb that describes the basic storyline: "The North Korean Government quickly seals off the island chain (Spratly Islands), claiming the mysteries of the asteroid for themselves. The United States responds by dispatching an elite team of Delta Force Operators to recon the situation and report back to the Pentagon. Amid rising tensions between the US and North Koreans, the asteroid suddenly bursts open, revealing a massive, 2km high alien ship. The ship generates an immense force sphere, freezing a vast portion of the island and drastically altering the global weather system. The invasion of Earth has begun. The two rival nations unite to stop the aliens and save mankind. The newly formed alliance fights epic battles against the marauding Aliens. With hope rapidly fading, the player must lead a crack squad through lush tropical jungle, harsh frozen landscapes, and finally into the heart of the alien ship itself for the ultimate Zero G encounter with the aliens." Got that from: http://www.crysis-online.com which is an unofficial site that talks the game up. So basically, humans vs aliens. However, if the first game (FarCry) is anything to judge by, expect a large level of open-endness, and a huge area to explore. The site also talks up the destructible environments a lot, a feature which I believe is very cool. Being able to shoot things and actually have them destruct is so simple, yet so fun, much like the level of fun the physics added in HL2. From the gameplay videos that are around (check the site, if you're interested) this game looks to be both beautiful and fun. Time will tell though - apparently it's a while away, being released early next year. -------------------- "I am so omniscient, if there were to be two omnisciences, I would be both"

If you want to play it as intended you will need a DX10 card. Guess it will be time to upgrade next year.

That screenshot of the shack would look better if it wasn't so bright and shiny. Games developers seem to have a fatish for making things too bright in my opinion, is there's a Bloom or HDR setting on a game i always turn it off.

Good graphics. Shame it's another boring FPS.

Pretty stunning game but my video card cant handle such beauty. Save mode. I'm just waiting for Dragon Age 2 and time to upgrade.
