So guys, how many of us have rFactor? i know Dave+Jack do and I'm about to buy it also. Would it be worth an expansion into rFactor?

I own rFactor, but I never successfully managed to start a race with it, despite trying.

lol, one problem with it. The steering lag is MAHUSIVE!!! Why does it take so long for rFactor to respond to my wheel inputs?

Yeah I know, you need over 100 fps for it to be playable lag wise imo. This isn't a problem with my new gfx card (7900 gs).

The game is pretty much a let down in some areas. It desperately needs a system like steam for map/car downloads for starters.
Also, most mods are turd and then there's the input lag issue unless you have a super computer. I even get lag on my PC believe it or not and have to turn a couple of settings down a touch. |

yeah, i just posted a review over at the PS.Com forums
QUOTE Dudes, i got rFactor a few days ago. It's really not that bad if you get the RealFeel plugin installed. Also you need around 100 FPS minimum to have good response from your controller inputs so i am running it in DX7 but tbh i can't tell the difference much from DX8. The positives are it's very immersive compared to LFS. LFS just gets a bit boring and bland with the sound effects whereas rFactor has a lot more varied sounds. The FFB isn't as good as LFS neither are the physics, you must never initiate a slide in rFactor. The fact u need a super computer or need to run the game at DX7 to play properly sucks too.
So to give ratings: Graphics: 4/5 if ur PC is good otherwise 3/5 - LFS has better graphics in DX8 Physics: 3/5 You need the right Mods, the best one for physics is imo the Chevy C6 or the Megane Trophy Sound: 5/5 Just stunning if you use the correct mods, the C6 mod has **** sounds however User friendliness: 3/5 Setups can be complicated since it has so many different options, need knowledge for that also you need to get your desktop and game settings right for it to work properly but on the other hand it has a lot of nice features for newbs such as TC and invulnerability Overall: 3.8/5 Not quite a 4 to me but definatly not a 3 because it is very addictive. Am i sad i bought it? no. Do i think it's a little overpriced, Yes. LFS is the better sim but rFactor is the better game, it can definatly give you a good couple of months of fun. -------------------- |

The lack of proper mod management is the biggest reason for me not to touch it that often + too many mods, too few ppl around and too many darn versions.

slap this thread back into action.
I been thinking about the cross over more lately, also talke with jack about it a bit. I think that i alone cannot lea the cross over and just get drivers. I'd need a few existing members to join me. Do any of you guys drive rFactor or would be interested in helping me start the rFactor side? And it's serious, i don't want people syaing, yeah sure, and doing one practice session with me. -------------------- |

I'd only be interested in the occasional race / run for some fun, so no from me. ATM I'm occupied enough with LFS and iRacing.
