Benjamin Crooks qualified for the pole position early in the qualification session and held it. That meant he was all set once the race started on Fern Bay Gold.

[TDRT] driver T.Jenssen was quick on the acceleration with his FXR, and very eager to pass Benjamin as he attempted to make the move while driving on the grass, however the sharp turn 1 eventually forced him to slow down and find grip on the tarmac, barely rear ending Benjamin. The field was in bad condition further below where several cars had incidents - some even taking off into the air. This gave Benjamin the opportunity to build a safe gap before worrying about defending, but he kept his pace and maintained a safe gap all the way to the end and thereby took his first victory in GTTC.
