16Hour Annual Race

The annual 16 hour event was held this year on the famous track of Kyoto Ring GP Long. My3id Gaming entered the event in two of the three classes, GT1 and GT2.

The qualifying day was pretty good for both classes. The GT1 team had a very close fight with J.Nieminen from First Racing for pole position. Although First Racing managed to set a faster lap time, they were accused for cutting the track on that lap and received a 5 second penalty which dropped them pretty much on the rear of the starting grid. Same thing happened to our GT2 team. We received a 5 second penalty for cutting the track, although we were qualified 3rd.

The race started well for both teams. GT1 team driver D.Williams kept widening his lead on 1st place. On the other hand, GT2 driver M.Bont had a clean start and managed to overtake many other cars, finishing his first stint in top 5. Hours where passing by quickly. In GT1, B.Crooks took over from D.Williams in second place and managed to have some solid laptimes. On the fourth hour, J.Basford took over and was leading the race. Unfortunately, he had disconnected just before the end of his stint.

The race continued, B.Crooks and H.Luis where driving during the night. Once again, on H.Luis's stint there was a time out which cost My3id Gaming GT1 team a few more places. Early in the morning, nearly at the end of the race D.Williams was behind the wheel, when he had some hardware problems and lost some time due to an extra pitstop. On the other hand, My3id Gaming GT2 team's race carried on very well. While N.McEvoy, A.MacCrone and R.Hut were driving in the night, nothing unexpected happened. They all had done some very good stints with no accidents or time outs and with a very fast pace. The only problem was the traffic and blue flagged cars which was slowing down the top teams from time to time.

M.Bont and D.Williams were the two drivers that finished the race for both GT1 and GT2 teams. The final results of the 16 hour annual race came out and both teams finished on podium. GT1 team had taken 3rd place overall, while GT2 team managed to finish in 2nd place overall. The results were satisfying for My3id Gaming, as was the enjoyment. We can't wait till next year!
