Here are my highlights from first race of OLFSL 2009 season, race one at Aston North with UFR.
All shots are onboard cameras, mostly from my car.
First You can take a look at start and a very exciting first lap. I had pretty bad qualifying, qualified on 3rd behind my two teammates Karolis Kliaudaitis and David Williams, even I had pace for the pole.
Dave took the best start and passed Karolis down the turn one, i tired to follow, but Karolis had good exit out of T1 and stayed for the inside for T2, then I had better exit of T2 and took outside line without much risk, thinking he might outbrake himself, because tires of cold, but that didn't happen.
Later, still in lap one, Dave made a small mistake and Karolis immediately passed him, I also followed and this time being very aggressive to complete the pass with lots of contact, maybe even too much. That gave me bad exit of the corner and I had to defend to SpeedCore.Luissi, then I made a mistake by missing the turn in point for next corner and they both passed me. However, still in lap one, next corner, Dave tried impossible manover witch resulted in bad contact. Dave was lucky enough not to get damage there, but Luissii wasn't. Few laps later Luissi disconnected.
I got myself into chase for the lead. Little by little I was closing the gap, untill finally Karolis made a huge mistake and almost crashed his car into a wall.
Once I got into the lead I was comfortable, but not for long. I drove one great lap, but next one wasn't as good and Karolis was all over me. I decided to defend for lap or two until i get my pace back. You can see some great battling there from Karolis' car, until unfortunately it resulted in a horrible contact and me spinning off the track.
Possibly I might have overdefended there, but I had my whole car in front of Karolis before he took side by side, so he had to lift off. The real problem there was that I had horrible exit of last corner for those last two laps, my front right tire was bit too hot at the time, and wind was blowing strangely for me there.
However I took my mandatory pit stop right after that, because it all occurred right in front of pit enter. I lost something about 5 seconds on all that spinning.
After getting back from pit I had to pass few guys who weren't already pitted. First one was bit rough on defending, something like I did to Karolis and how I was too much in a hurry to shorten the gap, I tapped him. To be honest I don't understand why he defended that hard, he wasn't actually battling for positions with me. Who knows maybe he didn't realize that. Few laps later you can see who driver who knows he isn't really battling for position cleanly makes a lot of room for me.
From then on my pace was a bit shaggy and I wouldn't catch Dave and Karolis who again switched positions (Dave winning this time), I would finish 3rd for sure.
Buuut, lap 18, I was on a great lap, 1:24.99 sector 3, going for the fastest lap of the race and then boom disconnect, like out of nowhere. I haven't had disconnect in more than half a year. My internet didnot disconnect this time ether. Possibly something might have happend in sending packages between my internet and the host...Tags / Keywords:
